Mr Monkey in front of a cow covered in small flowers, ornate swirls, and a peacock A cow covered in small ornate flowers and long blue swirls

Location : John Rylands Library, University of Manchester, Oxford Road
Date viewed : 17 August

The design on this cow is derived from the snappily titled Rylands Latin MS 164. This is a 15th century French manuscript which might have been part of the collections of the King of France (until the Revolution, when the King of France lost interest in his collections). It's now in the John Rylands Special Collections, awaiting restoration.
