Mr Monkey in London, 5th January

"It's all a bit confusing, really"

Mr Monkey scurried along to Piccadilly Circus, where he was able to look down Regent Street to see the Duke of York on his column. Closer, he had a quick look at the statue on the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in front of the Criterion Theatre. Apparently, while most people think the statue is Eros, it's really Anteros, the less-selfish twin of Eros. After the statue was unveiled in 1893 and people complained about the statue being nude, the owners pretended it was called Angel of Christian Charity which made the nudity acceptable.
