Mr Monkey admired the Houses of Parliament as he crossed Westminster Bridge, then started walking up Whitehall towards Trafalgar Square. Just before he got to the Cenotaph he spotted a memorial which hadn't been there last time he'd scampered that way. Closer inspection revealed that it was a memorial to the seven million British women who contributed to the war effort then hung up their uniforms and work clothes to return home at the end of the war.
You can read about the memorial at the Wikipedia website.
