Mr Monkey in Seattle, 27th January

"They didn't put much effort into hiding their ill-gotten gains, did they?"

Mr Monkey trotted down to Pioneer Square. He admired the totem pole, a replica of a Tlingit pole stolen by some Seattle businessmen in 1899. At the other end of Pioneer Square Mr Monkey looked up Yesler Way to see the Sinking Ship garage, and, above it, the Smith Tower again. It was the demolition of the Seattle Hotel to build the Sinking Ship that started the movement to preserve the historic buildings of the Pioneer Square district.
