Mr Monkey knew he'd arrived at the right place when he spotted the locomotive at the head of the train, one of two General Electric F-9 diesel-electrics used by the Spirit of Washington. They were built in 1954 and 1956, and were both originally owned by the Baltimore and Ohio railroad. Mr Monkey scampered across the tracks to the office to pick up the tickets he'd booked, and wondered when he would be allowed onto the train.
You can read about the train at the Spirit of Washington dinner train website.
