On his way to Pioneer Square, Mr Monkey studied the Rainier Club and the Arctic Building. The Rainier Club is the oldest gentleman's club in the city, and this building was built in 1904. Their earlier building survived the Great Fire and was the place community leaders met to discuss rebuilding the city. The Arctic Building used to house the Arctic Club, formed by people returning from the Yukon. The building is going to open as a hotel in 2008.
You can read about the Rainier Club at the Rainier Club website and about the Arctic Building at the National Parks Service website.
