Mr Monkey in Seattle, 4th February

"I do worry about all these parks that don't have any grass"

Mr Monkey looking at the Seattle Fallen Firefighters Memorial Mr Monkey looking at totem poles in Occidental Park

Mr Monkey trotted through Occidental Park. On his way through he stopped to look at Seattle Fallen Firefighters Memorial. Erected after four firefighters died in a warehouse fire in January 1995, the memorial honours all the firefighters who have died on duty since the foundation of the Seattle Fire Department in 1889. Then Mr Monkey scampered past four totem poles carved by Duane Pasco in the 1970s.

You can read about the memorial at the City of Seattle website.
