Heading for the bows, Mr Monkey ran into the 'B' turret barbette. Each of the four 6-inch turrets (A and B at the front, X and Y at the back) has a barbette, made of 2 inch thick armour plate to protect the hoists bringing shells and cordite charges up from the magazines which were hidden at the very bottom of the ship. Because some repairs were being carried out Mr Monkey couldn't go down into the shell room, but he could just about see it through a special viewing pane.
