Mr Monkey suspected that someone had gone up through lock No. 3 quite recently, because it was full of water. He was a little worried by the amount of water there, but was consoled by the thought there wasn't too far to fall if you tripped near the edge. The locks in the Marple flight are the second deepest in the country, so you have to be careful near them.
