Mr Monkey in Brussels, 26th May

"I wouldn't mind a red carpet, you know"

Mr Monkey in front of the statue of Queen Elisabeth Mr Monkey looking down the Mont des Arts

Mr Monkey walked up to the Place de l'Albertine, where he stopped for a moment or two to admire the statue of Elisabeth, who, between 1876 and 1965 was HRH Duchess Elisabeth in Bavaria, HRH Princess Albert of Belgium, HM The Queen of Belgium, and finally HM The Queen Dowager of the Belgians. She served as a nurse in the Great War, and set up the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition. When Mr Monkey had scurried up through the Mont des Arts he looked back and wondered why someone had set up a platform with a red carpet, and why they weren't letting monkeys on to it.

You can read about the Concours Reine Elisabeth website.
