Mr Monkey scurried towards the Long Water until he came to the statue of Peter Pan that J.M. Barrie had smuggled into Kensington Gardens one night in 1912. After wondering why Peter Pan was wearing a frock and whether a fairy was looking up it, Mr Monkey turned his attention to a set of posts in the lake. A number of birds, including a cormorant, had mistaken the posts for perches and Mr Monkey had to check there weren't any worrisome owls lurking sinisterly.
