Mr Monkey in Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, 4th October

"They're sweet little bears"

Mr Monkey found a drinking fountain with a pair of hugging bears on top of it. This was installed in 1939 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association, which is now just the Drinking Fountain Association. Mr Monkey isn't really sure whether the bears represent anything. Mr Monkey scurried around the end of the Italian Fountains, had a quick look at an open shelter that was having its wood panelling cleaned, and set off along the Long Water towards the south side of the Park.

You can read about the Association at the Drinking Fountain Association website.
