Mr Monkey takes a York boat tour, 26th February

"They never burn a guy on Bonfire Night at that school, you know"

The boat took Mr Monkey up the Ouse and past St Peter's school. Guy Fawkes, a Catholic who attempted to make James I and Parliament less hostile to Catholics by exploding 36 largish barrels of gunpowder underneath them, went to St Peter's School, along with John and Christopher Wright who were also in the plot. The boat turned back towards York a bit before arriving at Clifton Bridge, built in 1963 from 4000 tons of concrete and 50 tons of steel.

You can read about the Gunpowder Plot at the Parliament website.
