After he'd looked around the the Golden Hinde Mr Monkey set off to meet Miss Carol. Crossing Southwark Bridge he noticed a platform, a little like an oil rig only without the oil drilling parts, under the Cannon Street railway bridge and decided that someone was doing something to stop the bridge falling down. When he got to the northern end of Southwark Bridge he realised that all the white battlements he'd seen earlier were actually lamp standards covered with some kind of protection while something was being done to the bridge.
