Mr Monkey in Portsmouth, 28th August

"It's not a bad station, you know"

Thursday
To get to Portsmouth Mr Monkey took a train down to Euston, then took the underground to Waterloo. While he was waiting for his train to Portsmouth he wandered about the station, looking at it from outside and inside. There's been a station at Waterloo since 1848 but the original was so haphazardly designed and confusing to use that the London and South Western Railway demolished most of it and spent from 1900 to 1922 building the station that's there now.
