Mr Monkey inspected one of the embrasures in the keep, and was impressed by the thickness of the wall - up to 10 feet thick in places. He found a Fresnel lens from the lighthouse, and used it to make the brickwork look distorted. Most of the internal brickwork of the keep dates to the rebuilding in 1813-1814. Mr Monkey tried to get up onto the roof of the keep, but the staff had locked the door to the staircase so he left the keep instead.
