Mr Monkey scampered into the Chinese Arts Centre to see the video installation Interval II by Suki Chan. This uses split screens to show time-lapse films of two different structures. The first section centres on one of the semi fortified roundhouses of the Hakkas, an ethnic sub-group of the Chinese Han. Mr Monkey was fascinated by the movement of shadows and light over the roundhouse and the surrounding hills.
You can read about the exhibition at the Chinese Arts Centre website, about the artist at the Suki Chan website and about Hakka architecture at the Asiawind website.
