Mr Monkey stopped in a large cavern, where the guide told everyone about mining and how they sometimes found large natural caverns, and how the mine had become a tourist site when the lead ran out and more visitors came to Matlock Bath for the spa waters. He explained that the caverns had been illuminated by chandeliers of candles, and switched off most of the lights to show how dark it would be. Then Mr Monkey admired minerals in the cavern walls as they were illuminated in different colours.
