Mr Monkey scampered into the new home of one of the largest collections of automatic instruments in the world. Mr Monkey was shown into the first gallery, where he waited for a volunteer to demonstrate some of the musical instruments. He examined the Mills Novelty Violano-Virtuoso, a 1905 design which played a real violin. Unusually for an automatic instrument the Violana-Virtuoso worked with electric motors and electromagnets rather than pneumatic power.
