After they'd eaten Mr Monkey's humans realised they'd had enough canal walking for the day (Miss Carol had hurt her foot, too) and they decided to walk along the Middlewood Way to Higher Poynton. This is a footpath running along the route of the dismantled Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway line. After checking one of the useful maps, Mr Monkey set off, politely not pointing out that his humans were now walking back the way they'd come.
