Mr Monkey admired the church from across the street, and could quite understand why Elizabeth I described it as "the fairest, goodliest and most famous parish church in England". Since 1872 it's had the second highest church spire in the land. He trotted up the steps to the 14th century north porch, which has an unusual seven pointed archway. The statues are replacements for lost medieval carvings, installed during the Victorian restoration of the porch.
You can read about the church at the St. Mary Redcliffe Church website.
