Medieval mariners used to ensure safe voyages to unknown parts by leaving models of their ships inside the church. Mr Monkey found that the crew of the modern replica of John Cabot's Matthew had done the same thing, even though they had modern safety features, an engine, and knew where Newfoundland was. Trotting along the north aisle he looked up to admire a roof boss with a maze on it.
