Back at the hotel Mr Monkey peered out of the window at the patio people would be having drinks on if the weather had been better. Mr Monkey spent the afternoon at CrimeFest 2009, which had just started. He heard Roger Hudson, Ruth Downie, Jane Finnis, Roz Southey and Edward Marston talking about writing historical mysteries, and was reminded about forgotten authors by Mary Andrea Clarke, Barry Forshaw, Declan Hughes, Sarah Rayne and Martin Edwards. In the evening, his humans joined Ann Cleeves, Rafe McGregor, Martin Edwards, Karen Meek and Maxine Clarke to form the Euromonkeys team in the CrimeFest quiz. Inspired by Mr Monkey, and relying heavily on Martin Edwards knowledge of just about everything, the Euromonkeys won convincingly enough to be given a small sack of books and CDs.
You can read about Crimefest 2009 at the Crimefest 2009 page, download mp3s of the panels from the Crimefest 2009 programme page, and, most importantly, read about Crimefest 2010 at the Crimefest website.
