Mr Monkey takes the Scarborough Flyer to York, 10th September

"A steam locomotive is a thirsty beast, you know"

The train stopped at Milford Junction to take on more water. While the tender will hold 5000 gallons of water, the locomotive uses at least 45 gallons of water every mile. The train stopped in a siding so as to not block the main line, and the locomotive was disconnected and reversed to a point where hoses could be connected to a fire engine which was hiding behind a bush. When enough water was taken aboard, the locomotive reconnected to the carriages and the train set off for York.
