Mr Monkey scampered around the entrance hall examining several printing presses that have been left in odd nooks and corners. He was very careful not to put his paws into the mechanism, of course. Sometimes you can see these machines being worked. On the wall opposite the front doors Mr Monkey admired John Cassidy's sculpture Theology Directing the Labours of Art and Science, which reminded him that Enriqueta Rylands had intended to build a religious library.
You can read about the sculptor at the John Cassidy - Manchester Sculptor website.
