Mr Monkey at Quarry Bank Mill

"Sorry, I can't hear you!"

In the next room, Mr Monkey found a big room full of very loud machinery, powered by the waterwheel, making cloth for sale in the Quarry Bank Mill shop. Mr Monkey hurried his humans through quickly, because there were signs warning against ear damage. Mr Monkey didn't want a pair of humans who couldn't hear his demands reasonable requests for bananas and hats.

He did have time to notice that the looms were being powered by leather straps from the ceiling; there's an animation of the power train of a cotton mill at the BBC History website.
