Mr Monkey's Toronto Bus tour

"It's more of a chateau than a castle, really, you know"

The bus stopped for a while at Casa Loma. This was built by Sir Henry Pellat who really wanted to have a castle in Toronto. Mr Monkey suspects, from the mix of architectural styles, that neither Sir Henry or his architect, E.J. Lennox, were really sure what a castle looked like. Sir Henry went broke after losing his electricity generation monopoly, and after years of neglect, Casa Loma was opened to tourists by the Kiwanis Club of Casa Loma.

You can read about this odd building at the Casa Loma website.
