Mr Monkey at Urbis' Manchester 24

Mr Monkey has to work hard on his website, and frequently checks who is visiting and where from. He also has to stay in touch with his friends across the world.

Mr Monkey wishes the picture showed the computer screen better. Mr Rik wishes it didn't show the wall so well.

An indispensable aid to the tourists Mr Monkey hopes to lure to the city. Mr Monkey of course knows where he is and where he's going at all times.

This proves, much to Mr Monkey's irritation, that the Colorsplash isn't too happy with close-ups of monkeys.

A brightly lit shop window
Shop window near Cathedral Close

Mr Monkey enjoys the time of day when commercial Manchester changes to entertainment Manchester. In autumn the shop windows are lit before the shops close and he could nip in for a quick purchase before going for a meal.

As an attempt to capture a mechanical display showing a pair of conkers, Mr Monkey doesn't think this was a total success. Nice bright window, though.

Again a mix. Some people laden with shopping, eating before they go home; others, glammed up, grabbing a bite before a night out.

This demonstrates that, if you use the long exposure, you can end up with odd effects such a waitress who has left only a pair of legs and a slight disturbance behind her. Yellow filter on the flash, and button held down too long, according to Mr Monkey.

Looking down on a glass door being replaced
Manchester Art Gallery

The broken glass on the atrium in Manchester Art Gallery has upset Mr Monkey for some time and he's glad to see they've found someone to fix it. This will improve a modern structure joining two old buildings no end.

The 'breakage' was actually a flaw in the high-tech glass, but has made it look like there's been an attempted ram-raid ever since the gallery was extended.

A row of trains at the buffers in Piccadilly Station
Red Trains at Night, Monkey's Delight - Piccadilly Station

A combination of old and new, both in architecture and rolling stock, Piccadilly Station is Mr Monkey's point of entry to the delights of Manchester. Unless he comes in by car, of course.

The closest train is one of the new Virgin trains, going somewhere interesting, probably, with a more local train beyond it. Mr Monkey might have used the red flood on the flash here, but it's hard to tell, with the train being red to start with.
