Mr Monkey in New York, February 28

"That's a very tall ship, that is"

The Peking was launched in 1911, and traded between Germany and South America, until someone decided it would look better as a boy's school on the Medway. It took the Seaport Museum 12 years to restore the rigging on the 170 foot high masts. Mr Monkey really regretted that he couldn't go aboard the Ambrose lightship, because he'd never been on a lightship before. And he hasn't now, either.

You can read more about these ships at the South Street Seaport museum website.
