Mr Monkey in Brussels, May 12th

"It's an impressive building"

Across the road, Mr Monkey visited the Royal Chapel. This was consecrated in 1690, and was the Marquis of Castanaga, Governor-General of the Netherlands, way of ensuring that Charles II of Spain had an heir. After the battle, memorials to 27 British and Dutch officers were placed in the chapel. When the chapel was expanded into a church between 1824 and 1855, the memorials were moved into the main church. And Charles II never did get his heir.
