After he'd managed to cross the road, which turned out to have more fast cars than he'd expected, Mr Monkey inspected the monument to the Belgians. This was erected in 1914 to honour the five or six thousand Belgians fighting on both sides at Waterloo. Then he studied the field that, according to a small sign beside it, was where Ney's cavalry first met Wellington's infantry.
