Mr Monkey at the Falkirk Wheel

"It looks like we have to go through a lot of hoops"

It takes about five minutes for the Wheel to turn, and to take Mr Monkey's boat 25 metres up from the basin to the aqueduct. This is a lot quicker than using the 11 locks which used to link the two canals. Mr Monkey went to the front of the boat to see where it was going. After 104 metres of aqueduct, there's a 168 metre tunnel which goes under a fort left over from the Antonine Wall and the main Glasgow to Edinburgh railway line.
