Mr Monkey had wanted to see the pillboxes and batteries on the eastern end of the island, but it seemed that parts of the island were ruled by a gang of sea-owls who were particularly aggressive because it was nesting season. He decided that running away was the better part of valour, and discretely let his humans creep back into the tunnel. He was able to see some of the military installations, including the top of a light railway, from a distance.
