Mr Monkey visits the Vasa Museum

"They tell you everything you'd want to know about the Vasa"

Mr Monkey studied the maps showing the military and naval strengths of 17th century Sweden, then examined models showing how the Vasa sank. The displays also explained how the cold waters of the Stockholm harbour preserved the Vasa after everyone had forgotten about it, and how the ship was carefully raised from the depths six years after Anders Franzén found it again.

You can read about the sinking, raising and preservation of the Vasa at the Nordic Underwater Archaeology website.
