Mr Monkey looked up at the Hällestad belfry. At 40.5 metres it's one of the highest belfries in Sweden. Seperate belfries were common in Sweden until the eighteenth century, when government timber-saving schemes demanded that towers be built into the churches. He looked across a small ornamental lake to study the eighteenth century Skogaholm manor house.
