Mr Monkey at Steninge Palace

"It's quite a small palace really"

Mr Monkey turned and admired the palace from beside the lake, then decided to try and get in again. Possibly the most famous owner of Steninge was Axel von Fersen, who took part in the American revolution to avoid accusations of romantic involvement with Marie Antoinette, organised the unsuccessful escape of the French royal family from Paris in 1791, and was brutally murdered in 1810 by a Stockholm mob who thought he'd poisoned Crown Prince Karl August. His sister kept his body at Steninge for four months until a court martial found him innocent.

You can read about Axel von Fersen at the Wikipedia website.
