Mr Monkey scurried back to the croquet lawn. He allowed his humans to buy themselves some food from the food stall, and some beer from the beer tent, then he settled down to watch the SuperHoop croquet. A number of teams played in a knock-out league, with Mr Jasper Fforde as referee. It was quite a good idea to have someone who knew the rules as referee, given that most of the players didn't.
