Mr Monkey in Newcastle, January 12th

"They'll have a good view, those old seafarers"

Mr Monkey looking at the Knott Memorial flats Mr Monkey watching a ferry sail into Newcastle

Mr Monkey trotted along the Promenade towards Tynemouth, looking up at the Sir James Knott Memorial flats as he did. These were built in 1938 after the death of Sir James Knott, founder of the Prince Line, and were originally only for people with some seagoing connection. He paused on the way to watch a ferry head into towards Newcastle, and to look at the twinkling lights of South Shields.

You can read about the Trust at the Sir James Knott Trust website and about the Prince Line at the Red Duster website.
