Mr Monkey in Harrogate and Knaresborough, July 20th

"It's an interesting viaduct, you know"

Mr Monkey scurried down the stairs to the road that runs along the side of the river Nidd, to see if he could get a good view of the viaduct, built between 1848 and 1851 for the Leeds and Thirsk Railway. It looked more like it was 78 foot high from below than it did when he was looking at it from the castle. Mr Monkey made Mr Rik carry him back up the steep steps, to be in time for the next train to Harrogate.

You can read about the viaduct at the Engineering Timeline website.
