Mr Monkey walks York's walls, August 9th

"We seem to have run out of wall"

Mr Monkey walked past the ruins of the Roman tower at what used to be the east corner of Eboracum when it was a Roman fortess. Then the wall turned left and went down to Layerthorpe Bridge. In medieval times, the bridge was fortified and was next to a large lake called the King's Fishpool, made when William the Conqueror dammed the River Foss. Now the bridge isn't fortified and there's no lake.
