Mr Monkey on the Scarborough Spa Express, August 10th

"It's a fine shiny loco, you know"

Before leaving the station to explore Scarborough, Mr Monkey inspected the locomotive. The Green Arrow is the last surviving example of the V2 class designed by Gresley for the London and North Eastern Railway in 1935. It was withdrawn from service in 1962, but preserved for restoration. Apparently, it's got a monobloc with three cylinders, steam pipes, steam chest and smokebox saddle in a single casting, but Mr Monkey couldn't tell that by looking.

You can read about the Green Arrow at the LNER Encyclopedia website.
