Mr Monkey in Scarborough, August 10th

"Apparently there were five errors on the headstone in 1852"

Mr Monkey looking Anne Bronte's grave Mr Monkey looking at St Mary's church

Before getting to the castle, Mr Monkey visited the graveyard of St Mary's church, where he found Anne Bronte's grave. Anne came to Scarborough for her health in May 1849, and died of consumption four days later. She was 29 years old, though the person who carved the headstone apparently didn't know that. Mr Monkey wondered why St Mary's churchyard was split in two by a road.

You can read about Anne Bronte's death at the Haworth Village website.
