Mr Monkey in Ghent, September 14th

"That's another place I'll visit another day"

Mr Monkey scampered along Jan Breydelstraat, and found that there was a castle at the end. This is Het Gravensteen, the Castle of the Counts, and Mr Monkey decided to visit it later. Walking round a bit, Mr Monkey sighted the Groot Vleeshuis in the distance. Built between 1407 and 1419, this was the only place in Ghent where meat could be sold until the laws changed at the end of the 19th century. It's a covered market for regional produce now.

You can read about the Meat House at the Grootvleeshuis website.
