Mr Monkey in Ghent, September 15th

"You don't often see a cannon that colour"

Refreshed by his banana beer, Mr Monkey scampered around the corner to Grootkanonplein. This appears to have got its name, Great Cannon Square, because it's home to 16 tons of 15th century cannon called Dulle Griet (Mad Meg) which cracked the first time it was fired. Then he ran further into Vrijdagmarkt, to have a look at Ons Huis, which was built in 1900 for a socialist workers' association, the Socialistche Werkervereenigingen.
