Mr Monkey in Ghent, September 17th

"It looks quite a cheery place now"

Mr Monkey stopped to have a look at Sint-Veerleplein, in front of the castle. When the Counts of Flanders were allowed to execute people who annoyed them, this pleasant square is where the executions were carried out. Mr Monkey looked at the Flemish lion on its pillar, and at the front of the old fish market, with Neptune and two figures representing the rivers Leie and Lieve, and then jumped aboard a tram.
