Almost the last painting Mr Monkey looked at was Rene Magritte's Perspective II - Manet's Balcony (1950), a surrealist reworking of Manet's painting The Balcony. Mr Monkey looked out of the window to watch the Belgian army moving some small vans about, then scampered downstairs and out on to the street.
