Mr Monkey visits HMS Belfast, 16th March

"I think I'd prefer somewhere where the bad people can't see me"

Mr Monkey swarmed up another ladder onto the Gun Direction Platform. In good visibility, all the guns on the Belfast could be controlled from this platform, and it was an excellent place for lookouts to sweep the horizon in search of the enemy. Mr Monkey thought it was also a good place to look down on the forward turrets and the Bofors gun mounts. Mr Monkey considered how exposed the platform was, remembered watching Battle of the River Plate and decided he'd really rather prefer somewhere indoors and below the two inch thick deck armour.

You can read about the Bofors at the Naval Weapons of the World website.
