Mr Monkey walks the Peak Forest Canal from Romiley to Marple, 19th April

"The bushes probably weren't there when there was a tramway"

The temporary tramway between Oldknow's limekilns and the viaduct crossed what there was of the canal at lock 10. Mr Monkey looked very carefully and spotted some faint grooves and holes showing where the tracks, held in place by wooden pegs, ran across the canal. When he'd looked the at the invisible tramway enough, Mr Monkey had a look at the lower gates, which had been opened to let a narrowboat into the lock.
