Mr Monkey had been wondering how the sack of grain got up to the top of the building to be poured into the chutes, so he was pleased when the guide pointed out a lifting pulley, powered from gears off the waterwheel that would pull a rope with a sack of grain attached upwards. Then he peered over the edge of a platform to look down onto the second waterwheel. Mr Monkey was surprised to find out that there were two waterwheels; but then Nether Alderley is the only watermill in Europe with two wheels.
