Mr Monkey in the Valley Gardens, 21st July

"We're allowed in now, it seems"

Earlier in the day, Mr Monkey had noticed that the main entrance to the Valley Gardens had been blocked by police tape, but that had all gone by the afternoon, and Mr Monkey scampered in between two pillars that probably should have been holding some gates up. The first thing he saw inside was a tablet erected by the 116th General Hospital of the United States Army, who were based in Harrogate between July 1944 and May 1945. The tablet was put up in 1945 and rededicated in 2005.

You can read about the park at the Harrogate Council website.
